A proper ashtray is the difference between a ritual and a mess.
Ash on the patio table is not a good look, and neither is a flimsy tray that tips in the wind. Every cigar ashtray below comes from our own ashtray collection, several can be engraved free with his name, and each ships in 1-2 days. If his smoke usually comes with a pour, the whiskey gifts collection pairs beautifully with any of these.

- Rest width matters. Cigar rests are wider and deeper than cigarette notches. Look for grooves that cradle a 50 to 60 ring gauge without pinching.
- Count the rests. A single rest suits a solo smoker. Two to four rests make the tray ready for company on the patio.
- Material sets the tone. Porcelain and crystal read refined, stainless steel handles weather, and exotic woods become the centerpiece of the room.
- Depth controls the mess. A deep bowl keeps ash contained on a breezy porch, and a lidded or sliding tray hides it entirely between smokes.
- Personalization. An engraved name turns a functional tray into a keepsake that stays on his bar for years.
- Where he smokes. A heavy tray for the patio, a sliding tray for the desk, and a cup-holder tray for the truck or the golf cart.

Cigar Ashtray FAQs
What makes a cigar ashtray different from a regular ashtray?
The rests. Cigar ashtrays have wide, deep grooves that cradle thick ring gauges without pinching the wrapper, plus a deeper bowl for the larger ash a cigar produces. A cigarette tray's narrow notches will drop a cigar every time.
How do you put a cigar out in an ashtray?
You do not stub it. Set the cigar in the rest and let it go out on its own within a minute or two. Stubbing grinds the wrapper apart, releases bitter smoke and leaves a mess in the bowl.
Can a cigar ashtray be personalized?
Yes. Several of our ashtrays are engraved free with a name, monogram or short message. Enter the details in the personalization box on the product page and the finished tray ships in 1-2 days.
What is the best cigar ashtray for outdoors?
Weight and depth win outside. A heavy stainless or thick wood tray with a deep bowl keeps ash contained in a breeze, and a lidded or sliding design hides everything between smokes.
