The US Premium Cigar Market
The Cigar Association of America tracks every handmade cigar that enters the country. The headline: the post-2020 boom has settled into a plateau at a historically high level.
Premium, handmade cigars were imported into the United States in 2025, essentially unchanged from 2024. The boom years are over, but the market is holding at a level far above pre-pandemic norms.

Federal survey data shows a steady adult audience, a striking gender gap that is slowly narrowing, and youth smoking falling off a cliff.
Of US adults aged 26 or older smoked cigars in 2022, down from 4.6 percent in 2002. Among adults 18 to 25 the rate was 5.4 percent, a 51 percent drop over two decades.
